Anyway, I'm trying to come up with a sort of 'nuker' build I can do on my Dervish (need to do Sunjiang District...sigh...). I was experimenting with cheap, quick recharging enchantments combined with Mystic Twister and Mystic Sandstorm, but I'm not having much luck with it; it's very energy intense, and I'm having a hard time balancing that so that it's useful. I tried using Assassin's Promise with it, but it's been hit or miss as to whether I can actually get that cast at the right time for it to be helpful. The other problem is, of course, that it just plain takes a long time to get everything set up, which annoys me. I'm wondering if Pious Renewal would help any but I don't really think it will. I could always go with AoL for the extra pool but I don't want to have to rely on that for e-management.

I am wondering if using Attacker's Insight and dropping another enchant for something like Mystic Sweep would work, though. Drop the item I'm carrying, use Mystic Sweep + a few auto attacks with my zealous scythe to build up some energy and swap to a high-energy staff to cast AP+Mystic Twister+Mystic Sandstorm.

Or maybe I'll just drop the entire idea and go with "No one expects the RoJ Derv!" :P

But, really, I know people have done this sort of build before. How do you guys get it to work? Or am I simply SOL with this because carrying items kills your bonuses from weapons?

Edit: Nevermind then, we've just decided "screw bringing the items", so it makes my entire quandary pointless.

the problem is that its not very practical to try to do mystic twister and mystic sandstorm. its very hard on your energy pool, and youll need to jack up Earth and Wind prayers to make the damage worthwhile, then neglecting mysticism making your energy even worse. Best option for a pbaoe dervish is focusing mainly on earth prayers and mysticism, from my experience. Put in something like staggering force or dust cloak instead of mystic twister, as those give comparable damage AND condition on ending AND energy on ending. only downside is the range is smaller on the aoe.

but ive tried many times to make a mystic twister/sandstorm build and i always find that full earth prayers is more useful than distributing into wind. Be sure to include mirage cloak and Signet of Pious Light (if you have room and care to provide support between spikes). and yes the best elite for this kind of build is Pious renewal.

EDIT: some enchants to consider in such a build...Pious renewal, mirage cloak, mystic sandstorm, aura of thorns, vital boon, dust cloak, staggering force, Burning speed, any mysticism holy damage aoe...for more support oriented derv bombs - Signet of pious light, imbue health (or infuse if you know how to use it properly), patient spirit, tainted flesh, reversal of fortune, reversal of damage, shield guardian, etc. any quick recharge enchant works terrificly with mystic sandstorm, pious light and pious renewal.

The only person I've seen using such a build used Pious Renewal in it. So that may help more than you think. Try it out and see.

This build shows that two negatives give a plus.

edit: If this is for a person, just change to Pious Renewal.

So the consensus seems to be that Pious Renewal will help hugely.

I will have to add that in and see how it makes things work.
